Licensed money changers have set a maximum kerb-market rate of BDT 126.50 per USD for selling and BDT 125.50 for buying to help regulate cash-dollar prices. Meanwhile, Bangladesh expects a USD 350mn World Bank loan guarantee for LNG imports to become effective by November, supporting Petrobangla's import payments amid rising gas demand and foreign-exchange pressures. In the banking sector, the spread between weighted-average lending and deposit rates remained unchanged at 5.70% in June, with deposit and lending rates at 6.16% and 11.86% respectively.

News items — money changers cap cash dollar rate at BDT 126.50
  • The Money Changers Association of Bangladesh (MCAB) has set new exchange rates for the kerb market to help stabilise and regulate cash dollar prices.
  • Licensed money changers can now sell US dollars at a maximum of BDT 126.50 and buy at BDT 125.50, MCAB President MS Zaman announced at a press conference in Dhaka (24 August).
